The Professional Officer’s primary job scope is to participate in and manage an industry innovation project and ensure that all project deliverables are met. 

The Professional Officer’s secondary job scope may involve facilitating SIT’s students learning during hands-on and practical activities to enhance the students’ technical problem solving skills and increase their preparedness for industry.   

Key Responsibilities
  • To carry out research and study on corrosion resistance of RC structures
  • To conduct metallurgical, mechanical and adhesion tests of coated modern rebars and accelerated corrosion tests for RC structures
  • To develop design guide of using galvanized rebar in deep foundation element (DFE)
  • Train undergraduate students in laboratory skillsets related to the project.
  • To coordinate and assist in the evaluation, procurement and commissioning of teaching and research resources
  • To work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operations and maintenance of equipment as well as in the preparation of teaching/research materials
  • To ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations; perform risk assessment for all practical work conducted within the laboratory
Job Requirements
  • A Master’s Degree (by research) in Civil Engineering from a recognized University. Possessing a PhD degree will be advantageous
  • At least 3 years of research experience in RC or steel structures
  • Familiar with structural design code Eurocode 2 (EN1992-1) and electro-chemical corrosion process of RC structures
  • Skills of metallurgical, mechanical testing, adhesion and accelerated corrosion testing
  • Proficient in research and academic support work, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems
  • Self-motivated team player.
  • Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
