The Technical Officer supports laboratory operation and laboratory maintenance; ensuring laboratories are in conducive condition to conduct laboratory classes. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily housekeeping and maintenance to ensure safety, cleanliness and tidiness of laboratories.
  • Provide front line support to Teaching Faculty and Professional Officers in preparation of materials and set up of experiments for laboratory classes, as well as Teaching Faculty, Professional Officers and students access to laboratory resources.
  • Provide support to Teaching Faculty and Professional Officers in set-up, operation, trouble-shooting and maintenance of laboratory and IT related equipment for practical sessions and project work.  Examples include (but not limited to) network servers, VDI, software/service subscriptions, computer maintenance etc.
  • Perform procurement of common laboratory equipment and consumables.
  • Track and maintain inventory of laboratory equipment and consumables.
  • Track and maintain laboratory documentation (Equipment Manuals, Risk Assessments, and Material Safety Data Sheets).
  • Ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations in the laboratories.
Job Requirements
  • At least 3 years of work experience in IT field. Experience with desktop technology support operations, workstation imaging and software distribution technology including troubleshooting, supporting operating systems and computer applications for Microsoft, Linux and Mac OS.
  • Prior experience in in laboratory environment and computer/network maintenance will be an added advantage.
  • Have a minimum Polytechnic Diploma, or equivalent qualification.
